The Vision
When Main Street Miami Lakes opened in 1983, it was meant to be more than just another shopping center. It was envisioned as the town’s front porch, a place to walk, gather, and see familiar faces.
Brick-lined sidewalks, Mediterranean architecture, and shaded streets were designed with purpose. Land planner Lester Collins shaped the community in a nautilus-inspired spiral, drawing everything inward toward Main Street as its natural focal point, not unlike the way great cities such as Paris center around shared public spaces. What began as a pedestrian-focused core later expanded to include the surrounding Circle area, the Government Center, and new residential development, all reinforcing Main Street as the heart of the community.
A Growing Destination
Today, Main Street Miami Lakes remains a vibrant destination where locals and visitors come to live, dine, and unwind. Specialty retail, acclaimed restaurants, professional offices, residences, and a boutique hotel share a walkable corridor, alongside cultural and entertainment anchors such as the Main Street Playhouse and CMX Cinemas Miami Lakes 13.
Our Tradition
More than four decades later, Main Street continues to bring the community together through everyday moments and longstanding traditions. The annual Festival of Lights, held on the Saturday before Thanksgiving, has become a South Florida holiday tradition, welcoming thousands of families each year.
Today, while Main Street Miami Lakes continues to evolve, its purpose has never changed. It was built to be experienced on foot, in person, among friends and neighbors. It’s where good times gather.
